After BMC
drubbing Congress MP and Minister Milind Deora tweeted -Conclusion one
can draw from BMC election results is that Mumbaikars seem content living with
potholes, flooding, malaria & water tankers. Congress spokesperson Sanjay
Jha tweeted - We elect clowns; bad. We elect criminals; terrible. We elect
communal; horrendous. Right now, we have all three combined. God bless us all!
These are just a
few of the examples. Congress leaders are not able to grasp the reality that
they are no longer premier party of India. They are a sort of sinking boat
& have been wiped out of many states in India. They may win Punjab but will
probably lose the last big state of Karnataka next year. They are in power with
Grand Alliance in Bihar with 41 seats but everyone knows that they can’t win even
10 seats alone. They may improve in Rajasthan but that will depend on many
factors. In UP, they are a junior partner to SP. They are in bad state in
Gujrat, Delhi, MP, Chhattisgarh, Bengal and have ceded opposition space to BJP
in Orrisa. Congress starts in South India is also not bright.
But why the
grand old party has reached to such decimal state. One of the main reasons is
that there is no regional mass leader left in Congress. In BJP, we have so many
regional strongman like Raman Singh, Devendra Fadnavis, Shivraj Singh,
Vasundhra Raje etc. The era of mass leaders in India is gone (except Nardendra
Modi). Congress doesn’t allow regional leaders to grow as the high command feel
threatened. E.g.- Bihar has been ruled by Congress for more than 4 decades. But
after 1st Chef Minister Sri Krisnha Singh, no Congress CM was
allowed to rule for 5 years. Same was the case in many states. Regional leaders
were forced out of Congress at some point of time like Mamta Banarjee, Shard Pawar,
Narayandatt Tiwari, Pranab Mukharjee, Arjun Singh, Madhav Rao SIndhiya etc.
Many came back to Congress but many chose own path.
Another main
problem is Nehru-Gandhi Dynasty. I am a big fan of Nehru and have good opinion
about Indira & Rajiv Gandhi. But I have no affection with Rahul Gandhi. Why
I should vote for him? Our generation has no affinity with any family. We will
support Rahul Gandhi on merit not on surname. The day he gives a better
narrative than Modi, I will vote for them. The only one criteria in Congress is
obedience to the family. Family should allow other leader to grow and challenge
their leadership. After all Modi successfully defeated many rivals in BJP &
sideline founders like Advani, Joshi to become PM candidate. Why can’t we have
such healthy internal fight within the grand old party? You must have internal
democracy to be successful in a democracy in today’s world. Why should Congress
pin hopes on Priyanka Gandhi, why not on Sindhiyas or Pilots (even though they
also come from political families but people respect them for their work &
composer).
Another point is
that Congress is not playing the role of constructive opposition. In the era of
Whatsapp, FB & Twitter, communalism & intolerance doesn’t appeal to
masses. We need jobs, a vision not poor & community appeasement (apparently
BJP has started doing same now a days). We all are Indians & we must be
treated equally & respectfully. We need a strong PM not puppet PMs. Congress
has allowed BJP to steal its own heroes like Patel. Nehru-Gandhi family has
done a lot for party and so does another leaders. It is said that Congress didn’t
allowed last rites of former PM PV Narasimha Rao in Delhi. Isn’t is a shameful &
disgraceful thing to do?
We should not
underestimate the Congress party’s will to revive itself. In past, it has risen
from its ashes in 1980 & 2004. India needs a new & strong Congress
Party. A healthy, constructive & string opposition is must for Indian
democracy. But Congress will have to go through a bitter change. Otherwise Modi’s
dream of Congress free India may become a reality.
