If yet your
blood does not rage, then it is water that flows in your veins. For what is the
flush of youth, if it is not of service to the motherland.
A 15 years old
boy joined non-cooperation movement was arrested by British. He told judge that
his name was Azad (free), his father’s name was ‘Swatantrata’ (Freedom) and his
residence was the prison cell. He was sentenced to receive 15 whiplashes as
punishment. This boy was not an ordinary person. He was one & only Chandrashekhar
Azad – A great Indian freedom fighter & Guru of another Great son of Bharat
Mata Bhagat Singh.
When I read
about our great freedom fighters who gave their supreme sacrifice, I am amazed
by their wisdom. Here I am, fighting a cat race in office for a bigger cabin
& just thinking about myself & my family. Why we don’t put our
motherland before us. Now only dream of many young Indians are to get a H1B or
L1 visa & settler in America. If not America, the Europe, Australia or
Singapore. We are happy to give up Indian passport for which millions of our
forefathers gave their whole life. Why don’t we give taxes, why we look for
free thing from Govt., why we attack our fellow Indians on name of caste,
region & religion, why there are so many cases of violence against women? Why
we have become so intolerant? On one hand, we have allowed anti-India slogans
on our premier universities and on another hand some student organization
attack everyone which has difference in their opinion. Where are we going?
You need to have
the supreme devotion for motherland so that you can plan capturing of British treasure
for a train in Kakori and kill the barbarian SP of Lahore Saunders to
avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. Azad formed Hindustan Republican Army
& this group had some of the greatest freedom fighters– Bhagat Singh,
Sukhdev, Rajguru, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan etc. Azad took a wow that
he would never be capture by British alive. Even though he was betrayed by a
fellow Indian, he fought with British for 4 hours in Alfred Park, Allahabad
(now Chandrashekahr Azad Park) and helped Sukhdev to escape. At last, he shot
himself dead with his last bullet to honor his pelage not to be captured alive
by British.
Azad remains
relevant even in today’s time. We must tell his story to each & every
Children. When I was a child, there was pictures of Gandhi, Azad, Bhaghat
Singh, Neta jee etc. in my house. But now our children don’t know about great heroes
& they can’t even recognize a Bhagaht Singh or Azad in the world of
internet. No country can grow without remembering their own heroes. We had
adapted Western culture, language, dress and that may be the right thing in the
changing times but we must not forget our roots. Those who forgets their roots
doesn’t become a true country but they become a slave of another culture. India
doesn’t need much from us. If we become a good citizen who performs all their duties
towards our country, then this will be our true tribute to Azad and all other
freedom fighters.
Don’t see others doing better
than you, beat your own records every day, because success is a fight between
you and yourself - Chandrashekhar Azad
