Former
PM Manmohan Singh has once said that Naxalite problem is the main issue of
India (even bigger than Kashmir issue). More Indian security forces have been
killed in Naxal affected states than Kashmir in this decade of 2010s. Yesterday
25 CRPF Jawans were killed by Maoists in an ambush in central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
When our soldiers were killed by Naga insurgents, Indian forces avenged the attack
by attacking Naga camps deep in Myanmar. India conducted surgical strike into
Pakistan to punish militants in response to attack on Army camps in Uri. Now its
time for Government to take swift action. The public opinion favors a bloody
revenge from Maoists.
On
April 6, 2010, 76 CRPF Jawans were killed in an attack in nearby Dantewada.
Since
April 2010, nearly 200 security personnel have died in six major attacks in
Chhattisgarh. It is clear for these attacks that so called “Operation
Green Hunt” has not been successful to an extent we all believed. Maoists still
have capacity to attack large CRPF contingents. Yes, it is true that CRPF and
local police have gained foothold in Dantewada, Bastar, Sukam &
other districts of Chhattisgarh. But still they have not gained upper
hand in the struggle against Maoists. It seems that Maoists have been rattled by
development works like road building in hinterland. Once the roads are built, Government
can deploy security forces easily and can also bring development in remote
districts. If Maoists think that they can stop road building by this attack then
they are fools. Indians have successfully built dams and roads in Afghanistan
under constant attacks from Taliban. So there is no way they can’t do that now
in Central India. But Maoists have succeeded in bringing the focus back to Chhattisgarh.
The
sad part is that it was some villagers who helped Maoists in this attack. It
seems that in the race of development, India might have forgotten some its
villages & people. We must bring all Indians in the ambit of growth &
development. We must provide basic anilities like education, food, healthcare,
roads, electricity, justice etc. to all villages of Maoists affected districts.
But we can’t allow our own villagers who participated in these killings to go
away without punishment. We must use carrot & stick policy but we must make
sure that innocent citizens are not harassed. We can’t increase sympathy for Maoists
is by troubling peace loving citizens. Also, the pace of development in these
areas should be increased. Government should build roads, hospitals, schools at
a greater speed irrespective of the cost of money or life. Once we have a
proper infrastructure, it will ensure swift movement of developmental works
and troops. But we must not repeat the mistakes of Salwa Judum. Those who fought
alongside Government forces have been left without any monetary or judicial help.
Apart
from all developmental work, security forces must struck fear in the hearts of
Maoists. Forces should get special training & equipment to fight these kind
of Maoists. There should be full co-ordination among all the agency involved in
this fight. No stone should be left unearthed in this fight. If Maoists understand
the barrel of gun then they should be taught the lesion in their own language.
Its time to reform CRPF also. CRPF should be headed by an army General not by
IPS officers. CRPF needs to change its training methods, organizational structure
and standing operating procedures so that it can defeat Maoists.
Indian
Government must deal with Maoists sympathizer in mainstream media, politics
etc. If any political party, NGOs or student groups support Maoists then they
should be banned. You are free to support the misguided people who have become
Maoists sympathizer or the villagers who might have been denied basic rights,
but you must not support the Maoists movement. No ideology is bigger than the
blood of our Jawans. I hope that #SukmaSacrifise will not go in vain.
