Is Kejriwal right in asking Delhi Government to pay the fees of Lawyer in his defamation case?

AAP’s Government in Delhi attempted to pay a 3.8 crore bill for CM Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer accrued in a civil and criminal defamation case brought against him by Mr Jaitley. But when the reports leaked, Kejriwal lawyer Ram Jethmalani waived off the “Poor” Kejriwal’s fees.

The question remains whether the state government should pay for Kejriwal’s fee or not. AAP says that as the defamation case was filed on CM, so the government should pay it. One AAP leader says that Kejriwal is not only person, he is an idea. So, the government should pay for his fees. Let us examine the case. Arun Jaitley has filed defamation case on 6 AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal. All 5 others are paying their own lawyer’s own fee but AAP wants Delhi Government to pay Kejriwal’s fees. Why? Because Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia had asserted that Kejriwal had made his remarks in an official capacity, thereby making the GNCT duty-bound to provide for an eminent lawyer to the Delhi CM. But as per court order of October 19, 2016, shows that Arvind Kejriwal, in his petition, had told the court that the proceedings are "private in character" in the defamation case filed against him by Arun Jaitley.

As usual Arvind Kejriwal had made allegations against Jaitely and now he is saying that he made allegations as CM. Does a CM has any right to make allegations without proof? I don’t think so. Even PM make political allegations against rivals but he make those allegations as BJP leader campaigning for his party not as a PM. But allegations made by other leaders are of different nature. Kejriwal & AAP distributes so called honesty certificate and they usually declare list of corrupt people without any backing of facts. This time Kejriwal has been pushed into corner in Jaitley’s case. If 5 other individual can pay their own fees in same case then why Kejriwal can’t pay. Even he had earlier told the court that these proceedings are “private in nature”. Now few AAP leaders are saying that as money was not payed, there is no controversy. I am sure that without this controversy, Kejriwal would have payed tax payer’s money to Ram Jethmalani.

Is Kejriwal an Idea as claimed by AAP’s Ashish Khetan? No, certainly now. He may be CM of Delhi but he is not an idea. His party still has 4 MP in Lok Sabha. Even if he is an idea why tax payers should pay his fees. The problem of AAP is that they think that only they are correct others are wrong. As per AAP, even Election commission has allowed BJP’s fraud. If they win unprecedented 67 seats in Delhi then its victory of democracy but if they lose Punjab then BJP had done EVM rigging (to help Congress win in Punjab). They went against Delhi University to say that Modi’s degree is fake. They don’t believe anyone. Sometimes, they even criticize courts when court decisions are not in their favor. It has alleged that AAP tried to use Khalistani link in Punjab election which was rejected by the people of Punjab. AAP government blames everything on Modi & BJP. Kejriwal is very clever & he puts all his failures on Modi. He is using Delhi Government machinery for his benefit. I see Delhi Government’s add here in Bangalore and LG has rightly asked AAP not to use government money in advertisement outside Delhi. Why Delhi tax payer’s money should be used to show AAP’s Delhi government advertisement in Bangalore?

It is time for APP to rise above allegations mentality and work for the people. The CM doesn’t have a single portfolio. In other words he is a minster without any portfolio. He was in Punjab for 2 months campaigning for AAP. He should understand that if AAP transform Delhi then they can easily spread their wings in other states. If they fail in Delhi, they may become Vinod Kambli of Indian politics.
