A very
dangerous game of releasing videos in Kashmir valley have started. In one
video, we saw that local youths were assaulting CRPF Jawans who were returning
from election duty. In another video, we saw that a local Kashmiri youth was
tied to an army jeep to deter protestors to throw stone. Both incidents are the
two sides of the same coin. We have sympathy with those CRPF Jawans who were
protecting democracy and the youth who was tied to the jeep. We must praise the
patience of those Jawans who didn’t opened fire when they were assaulted but we
must condemn those jawans who had tied that youth to the jeep.
I have
full faith in professionalism of Indian Army and I am sure that they will take
action against those officers/Jawans who violated the human rights by making
the youth as a shield against stone peters. We Indians don’t use human shields.
We also must not deny the ultimate sacrifices done by our armed forces in
Kashmir to protect Indian interests. But they should remember that they are
Indian Army or Indian Parliamentary forces. Indian army has a long tradition of
respecting the civilians and I am sure that our armed forces will never do the
same. Despite hostile environment, our armed forces has helped civilians on
numerous occasions. Whether its flood or any natural calamity or it is
terrorists from Pakistan, it’s the Indian armed forces which has protected the
civilians. I don’t deny that our armed forces may not have done any violation
of human rights. A few army men have been punished for human right violation
and I want that Government & army should bring justices in this case quickly
to restore confidence in the valley.
And
Kashmiri public should also understand that our armed forces are not occupation
army but it is there for their help & security. They must not test the
patience of our Jawans. They must not assault our Jawans in the manner some
youth did on that video. It was the moral & training of the CRPF which prevented
any unwanted incidents on that day. There is a vicious cycle going in valley.
Stone palters or in some case protestors clash with security forces and a few people
are killed in this process. And again the clash happens in the funeral processions
of those who were killed. The cycle repeats & repeats. The fault lies with
both sides. Stone palters must not challenge the might if armed forces &
armed forces should show some more restraints.
Politicians
& separatists add fuel to the fire. Abdullas must understand that they were
part of the 1987 election rigging which ignited the current circle of militancy.
They had ruled Kashmir for so many years and they should not now play with fire
just for winning the election. PDP-BJP government should also reach out to
people to win the confidence. Central Government should show the willingness to
improve the condition of Kashmir. Separatists should think about Kashmiri people
not their Pakistani paymaster. And Pakistan should understand that an unstable
Kashmir is a threat to Pakistan itself. And we Indians should accept that there
is a problem in Kashmir and we should try to solve it not to ignite it by
taking a hardliner view. Let us accept that Kashmir problem can’t be solved by
barrel of the gun. We must start a political process to solve the issue within
the constitution of India.
