The significance of MCD Election result

BJP has swept all the 3 Municipal Corporations in Delhi by winning 184 wards out of 270 wards. The ruling AAP came distant second with 46 wards and Congress was 3^rd with 30 wards. BJP has been ruling civic bodies in Delhi for last 10 years but still managed to increase its tally and decimate its rivals.It seems that Modi has regained his magic after losses in Delhi & Bihar assembly elections. Last month, BJP trounced its formidable rivals in UP by securing historic mandate. Apart from these victories, BJP has swept Maharashtra civic bodies election and has made huge inroads into BJP’s strong hold of Orrisa in Panchayat elections this year. These victories put BJP in pole position for Gujrat & Himachal Pradesh assembly election later this year. As of now, it is very difficult for any opposition party stop the winning streak of BJP.

Let us examine the local issues in Delhi which led to AAP’s loss & BJP’s victory. BJP cleverly denied tickets to all sitting corporators to shed anti-incumbency. Kejriwal had won historic mandate in 2015 and it was expected that Delhi will be the launch pad for AAP’s expansion in rest of India. But Kejriwal has spent his time in blame game. Almost every day, he used to blames Modi or LG for some issues. Kejriwal is always the victim and he has no control over any matter in Delhi. AAP has lost Punjab & Goa election also. Kejriwal & his ministers spent almost 2 month campaigning in Punjab and ignored Delhi. They forgot that if they fail in Delhi, AAP as a party will become Vinod Kambli of Indian politics. First they would have to perform in Delhi and then showcase Delhi Model to the country. I was stunned to see advertisement of Delhi Government’s achievement in Bangalore on national TV with tax payer’s money. It is alleged that AAP tried to flirt with Khalistanis & NRIs in Punjab and came 3^rd in Punjab in terms of vote share. These days AAP has been targeting EVM (Electronic Voting Machine). They allege that BJP has rigged EVMs to win the elections. Even before MCD results Kejriwal told that if AAP losses then they will do dhrana/movement against faulty EVMs. Yes, losers blame EVMs after their loss but gradually they accept the verdict of people. But AAP has been constantly trying to keep this issue in limelight. They even accuse that Modi rigged EVMs in Punjab to make Congress victorious. I this this allegation is beyond my brain. Even today AAP leaders refused to accept the fact that they have lost the MCD election. All AAP leaders blamed EVMs. Even they alleged that EVM data was leaked to exit polls agencies. Indian EVMs are stand alone and they are not connected to any network. How can they be rigged in mass? Only Kenriwal can explain this because he said that as IITian he knew 10 ways of rigging EVMs.

Sometimes AAP is behind Modi’s degree but leaves the matter in between when they understand that they can’t go ahead on this issue, other times they are behind LG of Delhi or central home misister. They want that Delhi Government should pay the layer bills for Kejriwal’s personal case because Kejriwal in not a person but he is an idea. I agree that Manish Sisodia have done good work in Delhi but he alone can’t control the whole government when CM doesn’t have a single portfolio. Kejriwal is CM without portfolio. I am not able to understand if he has no portfolio then why is he even a minister? There is a joke going on Social media that Kejiwal has asked Delhi to choose between Dengu fever & AAP and Delhi selected Dengue fever because it can be cured. Kejriwal has to perform in Delhi otherwise he is doomed for 2019 LS and 2020 assembly election.

Modi is looking unstoppable as of now but BJP has to deliver on majority of the poll promises to win 2019 general election comfortably. It seems that many political parties are trying to make a common front against BJP. It would be very interesting to watch a duel between combined opposition & Modi in coming elections.
